XVIII INQUA Congress, Session #16

Dear Colleagues,

We would like to draw your attention to the following session at the XVIII INQUA Congress, to be held 20-27 July 2011 in Bern, Switzerland:

Session # 16 on “Late Quaternary paleoclimate and paleoenvironmental change from high-latitude Southern Hemisphere regions, including Antarctica”

The deadline for abstract submission is 30th November 2010. For further details see: http://www.inqua2011.ch/INQUA/?a=programme&subnavi=sessions&id=16

Session description:

We invite a broad range of oral and poster contributions related to the reconstruction of Late Quaternary changes in climate and environment based on the analysis of lake, marine and ice core archives from the high latitude regions of the Southern Hemisphere, including Antarctica. We particularly encourage papers that focus on high resolution paleoclimate records covering the last deglaciation, as well as more recent time windows (e.g., LIA, MCA). Contributions based on a wide variety of sedimentological, geochemical and biological proxies, and papers focusing on the application of new analytical techniques, novel proxies and dating methods for studying and linking lake, marine and ice core records in the Southern Hemisphere high latitudes and Antarctica are especially welcome, as are contributions that deal with Late Quaternary natural and anthropogenic environmental changes.

Do not hesitate to contact us (sjro@bas.ac.uk; sbertrand@whoi.edu) if you have any questions.

Looking forward to meeting you in Bern next year,

Steve and Sebastien
